Civilience

React Hooks
Version Control
Technical Leadership

During my internship as a React web developer with the startup, Civilience, I worked on the frontend team to produce high-quality code by debugging, improving library integrations, redesigning logic in order to optimize code to enable or optimize a feature, and translating Figma designs into clean functional code. I have also regularly acted as a liaison for the design team to discuss the feasibility of designs from a technical standpoint. I worked on problems that strove to harmonize design and functionality. I continuously presented my concerns along with potential amendments to different teams and product managers to tailor a feature in order to best carry out the aims of the organization. This role afforded me great hands-on exposure to React and interdisciplinary skills that I know I will employ more regularly as my career progresses.

Built and deployed a clone of the popular streaming platform, Netflix, by using create-react-app with redux as a boilerplate, complete with stripe payment integration and hosted on Firebase. Created dynamic web pages populated with data off of The Movie Database by making asynchronous calls with Axios to fetch data. Implemented responsive web design for accessibility.

Poem Mechanic

GPT-3
Notion API
Three.js

In an effort to optimize my learning approach to learn my native tongue, Amharic and learning the principles of poetry to write poems in Amharic -specifically trying to learn principles of Amharic poetry. I decided, using OpenAI's GPT-3 through their API would help me reduce the time I spend manually sifting through Amharic literature texts trying to understand poetry structure or find words typically used in poems. The first phase is to generate 10 words everyday and create 10 fresh entries to a Notion database. Already, this will help me come across words I hadn't thought of otherwise and it will reduce the time I take to manually create flashcards.
